Surging, misfire, CEL, smoke...
Hello,
I've had a CEL for cvvt solenoid and a misfire on cyl5. I ordered parts, took of the engine plastic cover for replacement. Plugged in the new coil but the solenoid turned out to be an incorrect part. So I put the faulty one back in. Test drive for 10-20 miles, went fine.
Next morning, happy to have fixed the misfire, I stepped on the gas pedal a little bit, up to maybe 5k rpms. Surging started. Pulled over, read the codes and hardly drove back home. Codes point to several misfirings and a p0300.
Engine starts but runs irregularly. When applied gas, sometimes it catches and revs normally, but shortly after turns back to weird running mode.
Opened oil cap while running and noticed some smoke coming out. Oil dipstick blows out minimal grey smoke too.
Could I have not fully connected the solenoid? Or is this the sign of something else?
