Is there a brake wear indictor?
My 04 S80 drives great- but just wondering once the brake pads wear down, how will I know? I thought that some cars had a wear indicator where the brakes would make a light constant squealing noise when they needed replacement.
Thanks

Most better brands of brake pads have a small metal clip on the brake pad which will scrape against the rotor and squeel when the brake pads wear down. Problem is you do not know if the clips are present unless you look for them. If the pads are less than about 5/32" (.156") thick, I typically replace them.
i never really wait until that sound so i dont knwo what it actually sounds like, but im pretty sure that even the cheapest pads have those indicators now,
you could go to a mechanic and have them check the brakes, or you can just wait until that squealing starts
