"thump" from left front
2002 s80 turbo 92K. When turning and when going over bumps there is a "thump" that occurs (not every time) that appears to be coming from the drivers side front near the wheel. Sounds like if there was something heavy loose in the trunk (again, sound is coming from the front) and it was banging one time against the side of the car. Seems to have just started, but coincidentally around a week ago my daughter hit a curb pretty hard with the front left wheel on a uturn. Looked underneath and everthing seems attached and the wheel is solid. Doesn't look like anythings loose in the engine compartment either. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

I had a similar sound and it turned out to be a busted spring seat.. You can get the OEM replacement for between $25-$30 and its about an hour labour to change
An easy test is to pop the hood and lean on the front left of the car and see if the shock head moves around at the mounting position.. If it has vertical movement then the spring seat is dead.. Do it for both sides and see

3 things could make that noise coming from front suspension:
1) as mentioned above, "spring seat" ... from my experience, I changed it 2 times on the right side of my 2000 s80.
2) look at the bushings on the A-Arm Control, you have to remove the wheels to clearly examine this.
3) could be the rear sub-frame bushings. There were a fix bulletin about adding the O-Rings.
If you decide to do #3, might as well do both sides.
