Transmission seems to be slippnig a bit
I have a 2001 S-80 2.9 with 59K. I noticed a few transmission quirks. It seems that the transmission slips a bit when I accelerate from a roll. Also, when i'm stopped at a light on an incline, the car rolls for a few feet as if it was in neutral. Finally, as i'm decelerating, when I hit about 5 mph, if my hand is resting on the gear selector, I feel a noticable "knock". Has anyone has similar experiences? Could these be software issues?
Thanks in advance.

I have a 2000 S80 with 60,000 miles on it and I have not ever notice those things. "Tech" will be able to definatively answer your question though.
Have you had any transmission service done? ie. Transmission fluid flush

Both sofware upgrades & transmission flushing worked very
well for my v70, Volvo don't recommend flushing unless you have towed alot with the vehicle,
They say the tranny is a "fill for life".
When my tranny Mech dropped the ATF he said it was putrid. so much for a "fill for life fluid"
Don't wait around too long, get it done ASAP, when the damage is done its
done.

Like V70 said, I have hear that the fluid is meant for the long haul, in fact I had a difficult time determining when the best time is to get the flush done. "Tech" recommended that you have it done around 50000 miles.
I had mine done at 60000 and the mechanic said I had some more miles on it, but I told them to do the flush anyway. I figure it can't hurt any to get it done earlier, and at a 150 dollars it's not that expensive as far as routine maintenance goes.

It could very well be Software related.
The click you feel is Normal a soleniod activates so that the car can't accidently be put in reverse when going over that speed. Safety function.
