Default Turn Signal Lever

The turn signal lever broke. Do I have to replace entire switch assembly or can I just replace the lever? How difficult is it to replace entire assembly? Any suggestions where I can find used part?

I do not believe you can buy just the stalk. Depending on the year of the car, the part ranges from about $70 to around $95 new from the dealership. As for a used part, I guess knowing where you live would help as there are many options (ie. EBay, Local Dismantlers, Volvo Specialist Dismantlers, etc.).

As for replacement, you need to remove both the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column and you will need a TORX screw driver set to do so (I don't recall the T-# off hand).

From there, unscrew (again, TORX) the switch unit and disconnect it from the column. Reverse to reinstall.

What year is your car and does it have a trip computer?

A local Volvo dismantler to me (Upstate NY) has the trip computer edition for $40, but by the time you add shipping it will be close to the price new. I couldn't find a used one in FL with trip. Lowest price I could find is $25, but they're from places I'm not familiar with. It appears most of the Volvo's use the same part, so it's not that uncommon of a part to find, just the prices are not that much less then new (at least IMO).

The year is 2000. Does not have a trip computer. (Trip odometer on dash) Do you have a contact/web for the dismantler? Paying approx $20 for a used part is worth it for me. Thanks again for all your help! Very much appreciated!

The local place around here is Erie VoVo...

www.erievovo.com

They're a good place, but they run about ~$35 - $50 for a used one. If you want to try your luck at other dismantlers you can try www.car-part.com
