Default Volvo S80 2.9 N/A to S80 T6 swap?

Hello everyone,

New here to the forums, but have been working on all types of cars for a long time and love it.

So here is my dilemma:

I just got a 2002 S80 2.9 N/A that runs OK (170K+ miles.)
I also was able to pick up a cheap complete nicely running 2003 s80 T6 twin turbo (only 104K miles)

Being that the cars are practically the same, as well as the engines (besides the turbos of course), would I be able to swap the motor and tranny from the T6 into my 2.9 N/A. Problem with the T6 is that is has no title, but the N/A does. So i'm basically going to use the T6 as a "parts" car. I know I'll have to swap over the ECU as well.

I'm willing to do everything my self and feel capable to do so. Just wondering how everything would fit, and would the T6 ECU be able to "talk" to everything in the N/A? Or would I have to swap over the ignition switch and all that too?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

are you saying you want to use the T6 engine in an NA set up? Keep in mind T6s have 8.5:1 compression where the NAs have 10.5:1 so you'd loose some power unless you swapped pistons. If you are thinking of transplanting as a turbo, then you'd need to grab the wiring harness and ECU from the T6 and move to the NA

I gotcha, I'm actually wanting to take out the complete N/A engine and transmission and swap in the complete engine and transmission out of the T6 into the N/A s80.

My guess would be no talkie. If you make all the computers think they are still in the same car (as each other) then it'll be okay. This is not a difficult project technically but it'll take a while. You may even need to swap the wiring harness.

I understand, I guess I was just over thinking it since I've never done a volvo swap before. Did an Evo, few STI's, 350z etc. before so this shouldn't be too bad. Just time consuming like you mentioned. Thanks!
