Default Volvo service

I have posted a tranmission question before and this is another questions to deal with my 99 volvo S80. I understand that you need a special tool to do your own oil changes. My question is that routine maintenances and minor fixes, do they need to be done at a Volvo dealership or a Independent Volvo shop? Ie. Will a Jiffy Lube has the proper filter, tools, and know how to do a oil changes and lube on my car? Also would it be better to have transmission rebuilt by a Volvo or someone like a Transmission shop able to do. How complex is the maintenance on this cars. Any feedback on what I can do myself and what I would be better off leaving it to a Volvo shop to do instead of a lube place or something. Thanks.

Default RE: Volvo service

Most places carry the proper filter and can do it.The dealer costs a little more but they have more knowledge about the car. They know what to look for as in safety items.

As far as the transmission they don't rebuild them they replace the transmission.
The only parts they replace is the Valve body or a soleniod.
