Default You guys are sure scaring me...

I just purchased a 2001 S80 non-turbo and haven't even received it yet..and after reading some of the things on here about them..I think I am going to have to get a COT and take it to my mechanic and leave it there..so I will have something to sleep on while he is working on the car...every nite..

Volvos, like anything, some are good, some are bad. Just remember most people who post on here are having problems, the people with no issues do not need to ask questions. I'm sure you will be fine.

Welcome to the club! My wife and I own a 2000 Volvo S80 that is running very, very, very well. Like everyone has already stated, most posts on this forum are for the problems we have not to rave about how well our cars are running. We've put a "little" bit of money into our Volvo but only for periodic maintenance, we've had no issues and are still loving our car.

If you take care of your car with the routine maintenance your car will reward you by running well for a long time.

How about giving us any advise along the way or once you are done with the timing belt. Sure would appreciate it.

I got scared too cause I had money down on a 2000 s80 turbo but got a better deal on a 1999 s80 non turbo took the non turbo cause i heard some negative stuff, Loved the factof it being turbo but I dont have turbo maintanance money. But I love the way the 99 s80 runs & it's creature comforts. The dealer had the brakes done & now I have the STL light & ABS lights on he told me to wait for the warranty to kick in & take it to a auth vovlo mech & the driver side door lock tends to make a buzzing noise which he said have them work on that too. But all & all what a ride & the excelleration is so smooth the car sound system although I may upgrade the speakers is fabulous, But I like Bass so im going to upgrade & put some shinny rims on it. Sorry off topic she's a great car & I hope with my plans to maintain a schedule on maintance that she last a long time & stays driving so great. Former toyota camry owner & still a classic Mazda Rx7 owner
