2000 S80 No Crank - I'm out of options
Hi there,
I recently bought a 2000 S80 for very cheap. The previous owner said it died and wouldn't start.
I found that he must have tried to trouble shoot it because there was a junkyard ignition switch installed, and the alarm fuse was pulled.
To start trouble shooting, I replaced the dead battery with a brand new one, and cleaned the leads, and grounds. I've checked every fuse in the car. I jumped the starter relay in the engine bay fuse box and the car cranked, so i know the starter, relay and connections to the starter are fine. It seems as tho, the ECU isn't sending the command to activate the Starter relay.
I replaced the fuse for the alarm siren, installed a brand new ignition switch, cleaned the connector on the ignition antenna. Still nothing. The electronics respond when a turn the key to start, with everything going blank, but I still get no start. I've tried starting it in neutral, with no luck.
I'm wondering what the next things to check are? What else is needed for the ECU to close the starter relay?
The only notifications on the dash are abs, and transmission service. Although at one point brake failure, and alarm failure poped up, but then disappeared.
One other thing is there seems to be a problem with the ignition lock cylinder. it often spins 360, and won't catch. All the other interior electronics seem to work fine.
I'm thinking:
Neutral switch?
Fuel pressure?
siren?
try replacing the ignition antenna?
What other mysterious parts of the puzzle are needed for the engine to turn over?
Thanks in advance!
