Question 97 Volvo S90 power seat stuck

Howdy ! I wanna know if anyone knows where I can buy a power seat drive cable (for back and forth) for a 97 Volvo S90 OR is there a way to fix the original. The problem is that only one side of the seat moves while the other side is stuck. My wife normally drives the car and the "stuck" seat position is fine for her but I need a lot more leg room. I'd sure appreciate any help. Thanks

You need a new one, usually the sheath around the cable is faulty.

Default Where do I buy a new cable?

Yes, I'd prefer a new one (though I'm sure it'll be difficult to replace) but WHERE can I buy a new cable????

I experienced the exact same problem after my wife adjusted the seat to her position. The right side of the drivers seat would no longer move - apparently a fairly common issue. Thanks to some helpful posts on this site, I mended the seat within a couple of minutes.

I fixed mine by first tilting the seat front up as high as possible using the power controls (I did not have to remove my seat for this fix). You can see the motors mounted under the center of the seat - the second one back controls the front/back movement and it will have cables coming out of the left and right sides. I simply followed the cable back on the offending side (left side for me when looking at the motor) to where the cable meets the gear that moves the seat along the rail - I was not able to see where it actually met the gear. I gave it a little push back towards the gear housing which aparently re-seated the cable into the gear. I then tried the power adjustment button again and it worked!

Some of the other posts recommend to go ahead and secure the cable under the seat with twist ties, etc. to prevent the problem from coming back.

Hope it helps - you can also search the other posts for additional explanations of the fix.

s90guy,
Thank you very much. After I read your instructions, it took me literary 1 minute to fix this exact issue on my S90.

It will fall out again.

If you take the seat out, put upside down and figure out where you can undo one end of the troublesome cable, you can cut .25 inch or 6 mm or so from the sheath.

Slip the cable out of the motor, pull the cable out, heat the end bushing with a lighter and pull it off. It will grip and hold when you push it back on.
