Hello all,
I am looking at a 98 V90 on a used car lot. The car was bought at a auction, has 198K miles and has been owned by one owner. The car is in EXCELLANT condition. Everything seems to work. He is asking $2900.00. Does this car have any known problems, how hard is it to work on, etc. I am single mom, can't afford to get "burned" but this car is really nice.

Any 15 year old volvo with 198,000 miles on it is a crap shoot. If meticulously maintained it may have quite a few miles on it left. If not, who knows. While generally a good, easy to work on car, it is imperitive that you ask for records. Hopefully they are in the glove box. If not, spend a few bucks at a volvo garage.
Anticipate 1000 dollars a year in repairs if you don't do them yourself.

 

Best bet is take it to a mechanic for a through inspection before buying.
