Default AC fan stops when you accelerate

Why would the AC fan stop blowing when you accelerate? If I push down on the accelerator to get up speed quickly the AC stops blowing. This just started.

I also just noticed a high pitched wine noise when the recirculate option is engaged and it seems like air is coming in even if it is engaged. It would normally not have air coming in the vent if the AC was off and recirculate air button was pushed in, but now have air coming in all the time with the AC off.

One of the vacuum diaphrams are bad. It might only be the recirc one or another one as well.

It is a pain but you can do it.
What alot of people do is screw the door so it is always open and plug the hose to stop the leaks. If one of the other ones are bad then I would leave it to someone else to fix as it is like a 7 hour job.

I do not have any diagrams handy. But remove the lower dash panel on the passenger side. Then by the firewall on your right side you will see a black cover that you will remove. The door and diaphram is there you should see it.

If you check with the car running and recirc on you should hear it leaking.

Default vacuum

How do you remove the old vacuum valve? Does it just snap in/out?

Do you mean the diaphram?
If so you need to unscrew the screws in the vents and it is a major pain to replace. That's why most people just screw it shut and plug the vacuum line.

Default where is the valve?

I am pretty sure the recirculate one is the one that is bad bit I can't find a black cover.

I can see one of the vacuum valves but not sure it is the recirculate one. It seems to control the lower vents. If i close it the AC air comes out of it.

Photos are here.

Is this the recirculate control?

If not, where is the black cover?
Right side, under dash on the passenger side.

Can't get the old one out!! It has 2 nuts that look to be holding it in but I can't get them loose. May have to save this job for another day.

It is a main pain in the A**. You have to also remove nuts from under the hood and pull the box away from the firewall as well to be able to get it out.
