Blinking Transmission Selector Switch??
I own a 1998 Volvo S90, w 85k miles. I'm the original owner.
Tonight while driving home, the transmission selector switch (Economy Sport and Winter settings)
started blinking back and forth quickly between the E and the W, also, the shift indicator arrow located in the instrument cluster started blinking as well. I was driving the car in E(conomy) mode.
I have never had any transmission problems with this car. The transmission fluid was changed at 35k and 70k. There is no slipping or any other shifting problems with the car. And, I have only used the Winter traction control setting about 3 times in the last 9 years.
Does anyone have any idea why the lights would start blinking??
Thanks for your input.

The transmission has set one or more fault codes. My 960 did thisbut there was nothing wrong with it. I cleared the codes and it never did it again.
Get the codes read and, if possible, cleared and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply.
Funny thing, I was driving it over to the local service shop and the lights stopped blinking. I had driven around 17 miles when things went back to normal.
Hopefully, it won't be a recurring problem.
