Default Help! V90 A/C issues!!

Hello everyone,
I have a 1997 V90 with A/C issues. Kick back a moment and enjoy my story.
Once upon a time, My A/C would stop blowing cold after 10 minutes. After shimming the clutch compressor and recharging with new R134 all was well, thanks forum!

After about 2 months the a/c turned warm again. The pressure gauge read on the low side so, I recharged again and figured I had a leak somewhere. This time I used synthetic R134 with oil for the compressor.

Much to my dismay, the a/c stopped blowing cold again after about a week. The compressor does not turn on at all now and my pressure gauge at the low (only) port read 0. No pressure at all. Soooo...I went back to Autozone, bought some UV dye and regular old R134. I attempted to recharge the system in order to get the compressor to turn back on. It will not take a charge It's like something is clogged ( I hope) The compressor turns by hand but when I hook up the R134 to the port and let 'er rip, it does not respond or accept any refrigerent. At this point I hope for the best but fear the worst. Has anyone had similar experiences? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Maybe your gauge is defective, does it read pressure? Check it on another car.

Upon further investigation, my a/c compressor appears to be blowing fuses. I think it might be time for a new compressor.

Blowing fuses is only the clutch assembly, so you might be able to find one used without having to having to replace the whole compressor with the recommended new receiver / dryer, vac procedure, etc. After everything you've done, getting all the R-134 removed and the correct measured amount installed might be a good idea. Too much R-134 can cause seal failures and compressor issues. I have to occasionally top of the R-134 in our car, but I only put in a little bit maybe once a year.

Flush the system thoroughly. Material from the seals can block the expansion valve. There are aftermarket units available at reasonable prices. There is an good video on YouTube that demonstrates how to service the clutch on the compressor pulley.
