Default P0442 code on 1998 V90

I know that this indicates a small leak in the system, often a loose or defective gas cap.

My question is does the light always re-set itself eventually if the problem is corrected? If so, I must assume the light remaining on indicates that this was not the source of the leak, yes?

Thanks, I await your wisdom and/or knowledge.

Light has to be reset manually. I had that code and had a small vac leak at a line elbow.

How did you determine the specific problem location?

Thanks.
Well, I have erased the code, tightened the gas cap, and made a simple "wrench" to aid my wife and her arthritic thumbs to achieve "clickness"

How long usually until that monitor becomes active again and I know if that was it?
Otherwise, I have been reading up on likely hose leaks in the vicinity of the charcoal canister and the purge valve as usual suspects as well.

That code will usually re-appear within 30 minutes of driving.
