S90 Transmission question
I am looking at a 1997 S90 that a dealer says has a problem with the computer for the transmission. He tells me it is about a $50-75 part. It sounds sketchy to me, but I like the car and think it is a great deal for the price (1000) if it really is only going to cost me a hundred or two to get it fixed. What do you guys think? Does that sound right?
He told me that it sometimes runs fine and will shift right into gear and other times won't go. They looked at the transmission and said they think it is fine. I don't want to buy this car if it is going to cost me too much to fix. The dealer sells a lot of used Volvos so I think they might have some experience with them. But this whole computer part for that cheap worries me.
Otherwise, are the S90's a pretty good car? What other problems should I look for?
Steve
