2003 v40 headlight assembly
have searched & searched and can not find instructions on how to replace the driver side headlight assembly on a 2003 v40. The entire assembly not just the bulbs. Can anyone help me with this? TIA
I love this site but the 30forty50 site has more V40/S40 activity. There is a posting about it over there and I am sure that someone there could answer any questions.

I have just done this. It is very simple, the only trick is finding the bolts that you need to remove. There are 4. I actually benefitted a lot from ordering the new headlight and then using it to help me identify where the removal bolts were.
1) Pop the hood.
2) To get good access to the bolts you need to remove to take out the headlight assembly, you'll want to remove the driver's side left turn signal assembly first. Near the front driver's side of the car, on the inside under the hood, you will see a little open space as you look straight down. There is a phillips screw visible there. Unscrew and remove it. This will allow you to grasp the left turn signal assembly and pull it out and away toward the front of the car; note that there is a connector you'll need to disconnect and that there are plastic stays and posts involved. Note their positions and how they're put into place for when you re-insert this.
3) Look in to the opening created by removing the left turn signal assembly and you will see two bolts that connect the headlight assembly. Remove them.
4) Next, position yourself in front of the headlight. Look down into the engine area at the inside front of the car, about 4 inches to you left from the battery. You will see 2 more nuts on their bolts. The nuts are positioned so that one is directly over the other on a vertical line. Remove them. Careful not to drop nuts down into the bowels! If you do, get under the car and bang around on the plastic undercarriage and you can usually locate and / or get them to fall out onto the floor.
5) remove the connector/s (Was there one or more?? Can't remember now but they're obvious) for the headlight.
6) Pull the headlight forward away from the front of the car and out.
7) Reassembly is pretty simple, just follow the step in reverse. I personally had a bear of a time getting the bolts on step 4 to reattach, but I had a hit and run that left a very small dent on the hood and I think it banged up that area.
Good luck.
