Excessive crank time starting...

Our 2001 V40 has been taking an increasing amount of time to start. It cranks sometimes for 10-15 seconds before catching. Doesn't seem to matter if it's cold or warm.
We replaced the coils, and recently the idle control valve. Our mechanic has checked it out twice, and since the CEL never fires to give a code, can't track it down.
Anybody had this set of symptoms and a solution? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
My 2000 V40 has done the same thing for almost a year now. I haven't done anything about it so far except some research. I can't find the thread now, but I clearly remember reading about others with this problem. I believe that the Fuel Pressure Regulator is the culprit. Perhaps with a little searching you could find the thread. Incidentally, I get no "check engine", either, so code reader doesn't help. A new fuel pressure regulator for this engine is about $225
