Default Gearbox Oil

Hi All,
Can anybody tell me the prescribed gear oil for a V40 '97? I'm running a high grade mineral oil called Omala 100 from Shell, but I think there might be a problem with this oil as it might react to the gearbox aluminium casing.
Cheers
Matty

My book shows the manual box should be using Volvo synthetic oil1161681.

Omala 100 is for use in heavy duty industrial gears and will probablybe too heavy for the V40 as well as being a mineral oil.

Volvo oil is very expensivebut you should be able to find one of the other producers with a similar spec at less cost.

Automatic boxes on the '97 V40 use Dexron 111.
