Need CV Axle... and more
Hi, I just bough a 2000 v40, my mechanic told me I need a cv axle passenger side, so after several hrs searching on the web I found several Brands, Replacement, EMPI, A1 Cordone (remanufactured), FEQ (first equipment quality) OParts and understand all of those are made in China ? I'm trying to get the best one without spending 400.00 + also someone told me that nowadays even Volvo dealer buy China brands because only them are making Volvo parts?
Can anyone be able to guide me, I'm searching for a really good one (reliable) probably new. Which brand is the best or reliable?
Please!
Also I notice when I'm driving normal speed and slow down with the gas pedal at 2000 rpms it feel a vibration through the gas pedal and it only feels at 2000 rpms any idea ? the car is running great and this vibration is only at that rpms and is not a bad one, but I feel it... Don't know what cause this?
Any Help?

I just replaced my right CV axle assembly on my 2000 V40 about a month ago. I bought it from Partsgeek.com, which is where I buy all my needed Volvo parts. They have two choices available for the right axle, and both are priced under $100. I am a tool & die maker by trade, so you can trust my judgement when I say the parts are excellent quality.
If I need a part that Partsgeek doesn't carry, I can usually get it from my second source : RMeuropean.com, another good supplier of Volvo parts

As far as vibration, make a careful inspection of the right (passenger) engine mount, as unusual as it sounds, on this car the engine mount can be strained by the vibrations of a bad CV axle on that side. A new mount costs around $50 online.
And if youre new to this model Volvo, be advised to peek under the timing belt cover and see what condition the timing belt is in. If the seller didn't have info about the last timing belt replacement, it's a matter of concern. A complete timing belt "kit" that includes belt, idler, tensioner, and water pump with gasket can be bought on ebay for less than $200. I your belt breaks you're looking at major engine damage.
I replaced the belt on mine myself, not terribly difficult if you have mechanical experience, but most definetly not for the timid or beginning mechanic.

Just bought the replacement from parts geek...feq. $8o. with reg free shipping...part was here in three days....Installed easily by my independant volvo guy....Im getting the original volvo part rebuilt by a local drive-shaft company that specializes in up-grading drive components...When the cheap one fails I will then re-install the re-built original drive.
Personally I like to keep my cars stock....all the research I did at various blogs suggest that feq was less than first-quality....for me an inexpensive
temporary axle (2-3 years maybe) and then re-install the original upgraded volvo drive shaft...
My 2000 v40 just turned 88k this week, I typically get 20 years from a well-mantained car...
Dont really understand your "beemer"comment...
