Default rear brake pads

can anybody tell me how to change the trick to change the rear pads on a 2001 v40? front...easy-breezy...back...arghhhhh!

You need a special tool to turn the calipers back in.

I believe snap on sells the correct tool to properly turn the rear calipers back in. I'm not sure of the product # unfortunately.

TECH, if the Volvo calipers that you are referring to are the 'screw in piston' type, then in the past on similar calipers I have simply used a flat piece of metal.............. Audi and Mazda used a similar caliper.

They are light the GM calipers. You need to push and turn them at the same time to get them back in.

Similar to Audi. I simply took a scrap piece of flat stock and cut it to size, taped it and Voila! I was doing a brake job on a Sunday and so no auto parts store was open. I continue to use my "tool".

It's called a "C" clamp use this with the old brake pad (so not to dammage thepiston). Works every time. Snap off tools? NOT worth it.
