I have replaced my front oil seal 3 times now the last time with a OEM Volvo seal. Clearly there is some damage to the crank. Some seals lasted a short while (few weeks) others would not seal from the get go. The damage is not perceptible to me-- but it's about impossible to fully inspect. So many a posting state-- don't damage the seat and look out for failing seal to ridge the sealing surface-well what do you do if it is damaged? Is It a home mechanic repair?
