Default Replacement headlight issues

Hi everyone,

New Volvo owner here hailing from Canada, hoping for a bit of help!

I have a 2001 V40 base model. So far everything has been going well. After suffering some damage to the headlights I decided to replace them with a set of after-market Angel Eye (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....5L._SY355_.jpg).

After getting everything hooked up it's really quite an upgrade however the LED DRLs do not work. The connection is done through a 5-pin harness that connects to the original headlight connector. Three wires from the harness go toward powering the low + high beams with an additional pair presumably for the DRLs.

I have noticed that even though my connector is a 5 pin setup there are actually only 3 electrical contacts, I'm not sure if that might be causing the problem.

This is also a Canadian vehicle set up to run with the low beams as DRL per our laws (the off option on the selector is disabled). If that makes any difference.

Would appreciate help from anyone more familiar with the setup.

Thanks!
Best,
