Default Shift indicator light?

Is there suppose to be an indicator light for the automatic transmission shifter? At night I can't see what gear I'm in without turning on the interior light. I bought the car used and it came this way. If there is a light, how do you replace the bulb? Thank you,
Jim

There should be a light.

Remove the side panel on the driver's side of the centre console. There is one screw towards the front, at the top of the panel. Pull the panel out with a twisting action then pull it backwards. Remove the tie strap and clips from the heater unit. Remove the bulb holder and bulb.

Reinstall in the reverse order.

Thank you for the reply. I will try to look at it soon and see if I can get the side panel off.
