Some very general V40 questions.
Hi, I'm looking for a wagon and these V40s have definitely caught my eye, but unfortunately, they are almost nonexistent in my area. I'm willing to travel a bit to find one, or at least drive one, but there are a few basic things I'd like to know before doing that.
1. The power to weight ratio looks solid for this type of vehicle (160hp : 2.9-3k lbs); are they relatively sporty as far as economical wagons go?
2. Are they reliable? I'd be using it every day for work as a courier, so I can't be needing to fix it constantly.
3. How roomy is the driver's seat? I'm a big guy (6' 310 lbs), so I need a fair bit of room to be comfortable.
4. How costly are they to repair? I've never actually owned a Volvo, so I'm pretty clueless on this one.
5. Anything else that might be good to know about these cars, especially in context of using them as a work vehicle?
Thanks for any answers. I know these kinds of questions are hated on enthusiast forums, but unfortunately just going for a test drive isn't an easy option.

hey hank...v-40 is not known for being roomy....I think you would be very cramped in the drivers seat.....im 5' 10" and around 180 and the drivers side is borderline for me....my left upper leg is in contact with the door most of the time.
The power adjustable seats have quite a bit of allowance for most peoples preferences.
Along with the adjustment in the steering column you may find a suitable position to afford you comfort?
I'm about 5' 10" and 200lbs (90kg) and I find my V40 very comfortable to drive especially longer distances.
I must say however that due to these vehicles being low to the ground, getting in and out is a little more of an effort especially if one is older and a little stiff. lol.
Being a courier however you'll be super fit and agile.
