v40, engine electronic system light.
Hi all,
newbie here so please forgive if I don't do things right !
I have a 1999 2.0 v40. About 8 months ago the "fault in electronic management light" came on, as everything still worked, I just ignored it (it stayed on, and still is on). My battery has now stopped charging, but I do not get "battery charge failure" light, (battery about 1 year old, so should be good).
Is it likely that I need a new alternator, or is it possible the fault lies else where?
Any help to point me in the right direction would be very welcome,
thanx :-)

hi cruiser, my problem turned out to be a faulty battery.
I had bought battery from halfords with a 3yr warranty, and had not used the car much in the year I had it. I took the car to halfords and they checked the battery and said it was faulty and replaced it. Everything then worked fine, although the "fault in electronic management" light still stayed on. Sorry this information probably wont be much help to you, and goodluck getting it sorted.

It appears the battery is ok, the voltage was low but after charging voltage was high enough to start the car. I have 2 keys for the car, one old one and one no so old. I was using the older one and when I used the not so old one the warning lights went out. The light in question was the egine imobilisation light, and with full charge and the other key all was ok. Have to look into the alternator now as it is not charging.....
