Engine electronic system light
Hiya guys.
Basically my grandparents have just bought a volvo v70. The engine electronic system system light Keeps coming on and off. After reading through a few threads on the site, I have found some usefull information. Im going to try and source the problem tomorrow morning, But that leaves 1 question... If i find the fault and fix it will the light turn off ? or is it one off them things where i have to send it into volvo so they can diagnose the problem, Then they have to turn the light off ?
Thanks in advance for any replys.
It will put there mind at rest as at the moment there reluctant to drive the car as they think it may be un-reliable .

if its the check engine light and it comes and goes only time I've had that was for an O2 sensor issue.
That said, what year model?
I'd be putting it on the rig and checking for codes, could be almost anything and you could spend a fortune guessing and get no-where.
When my '98 V70 did an Airflow meter the car barely ran, died on any application of throttle and after taking it to the closest mechanic, trucking it to an "expert", then trucking it to Volvo, the tech put the box on it, threw away the AFM, cleared the code and it was sweet as a button but $500.
I was lucky the previous guys didn't charge me for the work they did, but I was still out another $500 in parts they "thought" were the problem.
Sometimes its simpler to take it to someone with a box to read the OBD codes!
This is why I now have 2 V70T5's if one breaks, I can use parts from the other to "diagnose"
