Hi Everyone.
We have had a 2004 V40T since 2007 without any problems what so ever apart from standard mantenance and service parts (including timing belt & pulleys etc).
My question is, I have heard that these engines have a reputation of major engine issues around 150000kms, ours has done 168000kms, is this true and what is the issue.

 

I have never heard of major problems with these engines unless neglected or abused. They are very solid engines. The rest of the car may have issues .

Thanks, the only issue I have with the rumour is that since we have had the car (I change oil & filter every 7000kms not 15000kms) is that when the oil filter has had the oil squeezed out of it there has always been traces of bearing material in the filter media (copper like glints in the sunshine)
