06 V50 Alarm System Malfunction
Hello just wondering if anybody else had problems with their alarm system. Took car to the shop for a noise to be diagnosed and all of a sudden after 12 years of owning this vehicle the alarm stated going off randomly and they had to replace the front passenger door assembly. 420 dollars later. Arrrg any comments?
Yes, also have a 2006 V50 and I was getting that message. My understanding is there is a dedicated battery that operates the alarm system. That small battery is charged by the primary battery and eventually (13-15 years?) it cannot charge and you get that alarm system error message. PITA. It happens more in the winter when it is cold. I would just like to disengage the darn thing as no one is going to steal a 13 year old car with 200,000 miles here in Wyoming.
I have other electrical issues withi my V50. see next.

You can pull the fuse for the alarm and it will not sound any more but you will still get the message on the dash . You also will not have an alarm.
If you are handy, you can actually replace the rechargeable battery in the alarm module. See the attachment of my Alarm Battery Hack.
