Default 2005 v50 automatic transmission problem

Anyone out there please help me out!!!!!!! i have 2005 v50 auto tranny with 114k miles on it. when i put the car into drive the car would move very slow, don't matter how much i step on gas padal. i took the car into volvo dealership and they recommended change out the transmission. when i drain the oil out from the transmission, there were only about 2.5 quarts of oil came out. the owner's manual said it supposed to be 8.1 qts of oil.
right now i'm in process of dropping the transmission. should i just put every thing back, add the oils and give it a try?
why would the dealer tell me to change the transmission when it just need the oil?

Sorry to hear of your tranny troubles. There is a lot of oil that will remain in the torque converter and other places that will not come out with a simple drain. To change all the fluid, you need to flush the system with new fluid.
