Default 2008 v50 2.0l petrol egr

Hi everyone! I have a 2008 v50 petrol 2.0 that had the reduced engine performance come on and then it I restart it and it's gone but the car feels sluggish and I had an engine light a while back and the error code was the egr unit. Now I'm not exactly sure what to do from here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

so in terms of the reduced engine performance, it can be a few things. How many miles? Have you checked the plugs? Any smells or odd sounds? Have you felt any misfires? Is the fuel pressure/volume good? It may be time for a full "stage 0" tune up - ie oil change (with correct weight), fuel filter change, new plugs, consider new coils/wire harness to the coils, test compression, inspect the intake for dirt, run some Techron injector cleaner.

Or wait for it to turn on the CEL again, and this time write down the code(s)!!! ;-)

the code was about 2 months back and was advised to clear and see if it returnes. It hasnt come back. However I have had egr related issues as per my original message. I want to remove the egr and clean it out but I dont know where it is on this 2l petrol motor. The motor has 197640km and has full Volvo service history and is in good condition.

also this has happened before similar problems where the car feels underpowered but sounds normal and everything seems normal except I need to push the pedal down more than normal to get the revs up to the normal revs and previously it was a sensor on the accelerator system.
thank you guys for the advice this far.

low power can be caused by a few things - intake air or exhaust restriction, fuel supply, weak spark, low compression or incorrect fuel trim (possibly due to an 02 sensor, intake air leak, exhaust leak etc). You'd really do need a few measurements to know what direction to go in - but making sure the car is in proper tune is not a throw away investment.

Default Solved

Hi guys thanks for the help. I went and had a full diagnostic done and it cane back with a throttle sensor fault. They cleared the codes and the car is fine again. One error I found may explain my aircon not working. I have a fault with my damper motor. I tried looking for it but cant find its location.

Hi everyone,
I have a Volvo v50 2.0d diesel, year 2008 and i have some problems with it.
I have reconditioned the turbine, changed the dpf but not an original one, chenged the pressure sensor particulate trap, everything was ok for 44 km after that the engine entered in protection mode. I have erased the errors i i have run with it until she asked for regeneration, but she couldn`t make it because the engine has entered in protection mode again.
I have bought a vida dice tester, not the original one, i made the test and the errors are:
- ecm-1335 EGR position sensor Faulty signal.
- ecm -2455 Pressure sensor particulate trap Signal too high.
Can someone help me to tell me what i have to do?
Sorry if it's not the right place for my post.
Thanks in advance

Hi! Sounds like it could be a blocked EGR valve.have you noticed increased fuel consumption?

Hi. No the consumption is 7.5 combined. Someone told me that can be the electrical part from the EGR. When i drive the car with the motor in protection mode, the voltage from the EGR increse only to 3.5Volts
Can be this? The electrical part from the Egr? And i dont know why the pressure sensor particulate filter its on the error to.

it is possible, you say you replaced the DPF? Maybe give the the DPF a clean. It sometimes can be that. As when that filter gets blocked the car most definitely will go into limp mode.

I replaced the dpf and the sensor. But the error with the EGR is red on volvo dice. And from the sensor is orange. Maybe if i will replace the egr and i will calibrate it will do the regeneration to. I will try to do like this. But i don't know if ridex Egr it's ok? or i should buy the original one from delphi. because the price is big for delphi.
