Default SRS Modules

Hi everyone, new here!

I have a 58 plate V50 RDesign 2.0D. I have just taken it for a service and diagnostics at the Volvo specialist near me because I had the “SRS Service Urgent” on the dash... The Fault code given was SRS-CFFF and SRS-0005. I have been quoted £715 for a new module, software and fitting.

My question really is, has anyone had it fixed cheaper than this?

Thank you
Jen

SRS 0005 is set by a low voltage event, SRS CFFF is a fault in the SRS module itself. Seems to align with your diagnosis so the only question is whether you can source a used module and whether the dealer would be able to program it for your car. What was the cost for the replacement module itself? The only other thing to do is to inspect the connectors and wiring. Did you have a recent battery issue/jump start etc?

Thanks for your reply!
the only issue I can remember from when the light came on was, I let the car sit for a while without use... and one of my kids spilled juice all over my centre console which shorted my front 12v... I’ve recently changed the battery in the car because it died and had to be jumped most days.

I was told that second hand ones can’t be used on other cars?

so it seems plausible something got shorted with the juice incident. Did you have the tech clear the codes to see if they returned? No harm in doing so since if the module is truly bad, codes will just reset. Hopefully they also checked all fuses/relays as well but can't hurt to look around again. I have heard some say modules can't be reused, others say they have replaced with no problem so it may come down to your model/year and specific module. Obvious a dealer has constraints that an indy won't have so it may be worth calling around to an indy with a volvo factory trained tech on staff.

Hi I have the same issue with a faulty SRS module and have also replaced the car battery, is the battery change liked to crashing the module?
Been told that it will be £700 to replace module, can you fit second hand?
