Default 2010 V50 Air filter change

Can anyone tell me if it's difficult to change the air filter on a 2010 V50 2.4i? If not, what are the steps? I at least want to inspect the filter to blow it out or replace it... dealership won't do it yet as I'm on the "Safe and Sound" warranty and my mileage is not there yet, but I've had the car a year and live in the Southwest where it's very dusty.

Horrible dealership... I think they siphoned gas out of my tank when I had the oil changed. Mileage plummeted at next fillup with no other rationale. So I am avoiding them when possible.

Thanks for help on this. I cannot find a diagram or instructions anywhere.

Extremely easy.

1. Open hood.
2. locate airbox, i can provide pictures if needed.
3. there will be latches on the side of the box, open those.
4. the top of the box will now be completely, or sorta free, i dont have a 5cylinder but it's same idea.
5. pull out old filter.
6.put in new filter.
7.close properly.
8. Laugh at dealership for what they charge you.

I think iPD sells stock airfilter's at a very reasonable price.

Actually it is a little different from the 2000-2004. The air box is directly behind the radiator. You will see an air intake pipe going from the front of the car just behind the grill to the air box. At the top of the air box you will see 2 philips screws that go into the filter cover. Back out the screws. There is a lip that runs the length of the cover. Pull straight up. There you go!

Default Many thanks, Stan!

Stan, you're the man! Everyone I spoke to talked about unfastening the clips, but I know that design and it does not apply to the 2010 V50. I called my (horrid) dealership yesterday and the service mgr. said it was a 10 minute process involving special tools. I had removed the two screws as you said but did not know to pull the filter unit up. The entire process took a minute, I vacuumed the filter and reinserted it. THANKS SO MUCH.

(People should not post answers they do not know for sure are correct. It's not helpful.)

THANKS AGAIN!
