Default 2010 v50 Timing Belt Interval

Recently bought a used 2010 v50. High mileage (87k right now). I'm making the assumption the timing belt hasn't been changed to err on the side of caution.

What is the timing belt change interval? Can't seem to find it anywhere online.

Also, is it as much of a PITA to change the belt, tensioner, etc. as it is on most cars or is it something which someone with a little mechanical knowledge can tackle?

Thanks.

Looks like 120K miles. The 2011 is the same.

It is not quite as straight forward as a typical engine. Given that these cars have variable valve timing, there is a special alignment tools and procedure for setting up the belt timing.

Thanks a bunch! Makes me feel a little better. Doesn't sound like I can tackle it myself so just have to save my pennies for when I hit $120k.

I appreciate it!

I have done timing belts on several cars before and I am sure I could figure this one out but I just assume skip the learning curve and pay the man to do it. Must be getting old I guess.

I don't have as much patience as I used to either. I used to not mind a, "learning curve," but I'd rather not deal with one on things like this now.

My trusted mechanic says that the timing belt on these is $700 ish. (Dealer said $1k) Does that sound right, for a T5 ?

Sounds about right for most cars I've priced out.
