So my stereo works fine in all modes except AM. Nothing at all there.

I suspect regional programming issues or antenna connector problems.

Where do I find the connector from the antenna - specifically the place where the brass strip repair is carried out?

Its probably not going to be the antenna. Its a problem with the circuit board in the radio. I'm guessing you have a 2008 or newer? Its repairable. Not sure where you are but there is a company in Mississauga Ontario that fixes them for $250.

 

The problem is most likly your stuff but that it is AM! JK it is most likly a bad connection or the antenna. Check the connections first tho.

 

There's a bulletin for this. You're gonna need an IAM, which is the CD player.

 

I had the IAM replaced on Monday. To explain. Back in Nov 2016 I had my battery replaced. Got the vehicle back and no AM or FM signal, just static. Brought it to another Volvo dealer. Dealer sold me on a software upgrade, still didn't work. Diagnostics showed the IAM was the problem. I though a new IAM would solve the problem but it didn't. Still get static out of AM, FM and no signal on Sirius. Everything else works fine. Dealer is miffed. They are talking to there tech department. Mechanic said he had another one a couple of months ago where they replaced the IAM, worked for a couple of months then stopped, they replaced the AMP and it worked again. Anyone have a link for the bulletin?
