Default Belt Slipping issues

I drive an 07 v50, and I recently had some issues that caused my coolant reservoir to develop a leak. I ordered a new part and I’ve got the repair scheduled, but I have been driving it minimally and just refilling the reservoir when it gets low.

however, today the belt that is exposed right next to the reservoir started squealing and slipping to the point that I had to pull over a few times. I sprayed it with conditioner but that didn’t seem to work for very long, and then I started dealing with some issues with my interior lights (not turning on, etc.) so it seems like the slipping is preventing my alternator from recharging the battery.

Does belt slipping cause issues like this normally, and will my alternator be okay? Or is this not something the alternator can typically recover from? Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like antifreeze is spraying on the belt - and antifreeze is very slippery - The alternator is probably working fine when not soaked in antifreeze - perhaps you should not drive the car until you can prevent that slippery stuff from getting on the belt.

understood. I’m keeping it off the road. I need to drive it to a repair shop though, is there anything besides belt conditioner I can use/do to get it dry enough for that trek? And should I have the battery/alternator/belt looked at as well?
