belt issues

Default belt issues

my alternator belt snapped off, how can i change it myself? i know i need a specific tool so any advice or instruction would be appreciated.. it’s a 94 volvo 940 turbo wagon btw

You need no special tools. But you need to loosen the A/C, get that belt off first and that's not that pleasant a job. The alternator belt is much easier. The AC belt requires two pivot bolts (accessed most easily from under the car) to be loosened. I put the car up on Rhino Ramps and removed the plastic belly pan for easy access.

okay thank you, i’ve found a couple videos for the alternator belt that i’m going to use but i’ll keep looking for one on the ac belt.. unfortunately, i don’t have a ramp or jack available to me right now

Loosening the A/C compressor is a bit of a pain, sometimes easy, sometimes not. But definitely have to go from underneath to undo two bolts.
