Bulb Failure - Low Beam!

Bulb Failure - Low Beam!
Hi
I am a newbie and I wondered whether someone could just help me out! I have a Volvo V50 Estate 2009 and to say we have had problems with this car would be an understatement. I will spare you all the gory details but lets just say the problems started with an engine that caught fire and has culminated into many other issues! I finally thought I had reach the end (one a new DPF is purchased that is ) and low and behold another error message. PLEASE PLEASE tell me that the error message reading "Bulb Failure - Low Beam just means that the bulbs have blown and need replacing and its not another electrical issue? Can the sensors really feel a bulb has blown?
I would really appreciate the help
Thanks

sure a sensor can tell if the bulb (essentially its a resistor to an electric circuit) if opened up. You should be able to find a Youtube video on how to replace the bulb in the 2nd Gen S40/V50 light (there's a tab to pull up and swing out the headlight assembly for easy access. Way nicer than the older cars. Just a note - check both bulbs - sometimes they go in pairs :-)
