Have a 2005 V50 with 70000 miles. Recently noticed a chirping noise from the engine - quite a steady noise - didn't change with weather conditions, etc. Had it checked out and had 2 belts replaced. Didn't have any positive affect!

Noise seems to be coming from the area of the harmonic balancer (mechanic told me this - I have no idea what that even is!)

Any suggestions before i bite the bullet and head to the dealership would be most welcome
