Exclamation Noise in Front Passenger Wheel Area

Hello I have a 2008 Volvo V50 2.4 FWD with 173000 miles. Recently it has been making a grinding noise in the front passenger wheel area while in reverse only. I don't hear it every time I reverse nor is it very loud. However, there is also some vibration in the steering wheel. Does anyone have an idea if this is a cv joint or something more serious? Also, if you have replaced one before, what am I in for cost-wise? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Default

Cv joints usually click while turning or clunk/thump while going over bumps. If I had to guess I would start with brake inspection.

A reasonable shop will charge you $20 for an inspection and make it free if you do the work with them. Let them know what the issue is and that it's intermittent.
