Default Seatbelt stalk replacement

I need to replace the seatbelt stalk on driver side. I see that there is a wire that leads to the front.

Is it as simple as removing the seat, bolting on new stalk and splicing into the existing wire with the new wire?

This is my first Volvo and my first problem to tackle!

It will come with a new wire and connector. Don't splice anything.

You're talking about the buckle, right? Can you upload a pic?

Yep the buckle only

My main concern is setting something off by playing with the wires

Whoever picked it from the junkyard cut the wire instead of removing the connector from the connector block under the seat.

Is it safe to splice into the existing wire in that case?

You can try it. Not sure how sensitive the resistance measurement is. If you have an SRS light on when you're done you'll know where to look.
