What is the engine code? look for something like "BnnnnXn". Here's the factory interval recommendations for model Year 2010:

38 B5244S4 120,000 miles / 10 years w tensioner & idler pulley
39 B5244S7 150,000 miles / 15 years w tensioner & idler pulley
S40/V50 Auto only in states CA, CT, MA, ME, NJ, NY, RI, VT *
67 B5254T7 120,000 miles / 10 years w tensioner & idler pulley
85 B8444S No Timing Belt
96 B6324S2 No Timing Belt
98 B6324S No Timing Belt
99 B6304T2 No Timing Belt

the code can be found on one of the build plates (not sure where on your model) - maybe on the firewall, dashboard or door jamb. Also should be on a sticker on the timing belt cover (passenger side of the engine on the transverse 5s)

The easiest way is to look at the VIN - positions 6 and 7 are a two digit engine code - ie 38 means you have the B5244S4 engine (which is a gas 5 cylinder 2.4 Liter 4th generation NA engine) and a 67 would be the B5254T7 (code for a 5 cyl 2.5L turbo...) I've posted the two digit codes as well as the B codes

38 means B5244S4 which has a timing belt with maintenance due at 120,000 miles / 10 years w tensioner & idler pulley

Why post to a three year old thread on the wrong vehicle forum?

It came up in a Google search, I confess I did not look at the date stamp.

I will have more of a look around, not had mine long and I'm sure I can learn a lot from this forum.

Also take a look at the S40 forum - the engines are identical, and there are a lot more of the S40 vehicles out there, so there are also a lot more posts on that forum.
