Man, sure hope someone can help me out.

I purchased a 2001 V70 in May with 50k on it. Fast forward to last week - Car has 57k on it and the tranny drops out - completely. I have seen some posts on Edmunds that relate to this issue. Volvo refuses to do anything about it. Does anyone have a magic wand for a $4,000 repair bill?

BTW, this is my second Volvo. First one was a 98 S70. Dropped $3k in it before I had to unload it and the engine never did work right. New owner ended up dropping a new engine in it. I love the Volvo styling/handling/etc. but I think two lemons is going to do it for me.

 

Bad year for those transmissions and there is no fix other than replacement. according to the Volvo shop that works on my car, the rebuilts don't often last very long either. He also says that if a XC70 comes in with a transmission complaint they refuse to even look at them now.
