Default Tranny Issue Help please

Ok so I have owned a 1994 volvo 850 turbo with 180k and never had any problems. So I bought a 95 850 turbo wagon for my grandmother with 109k but miles stopped working im still guessing it has less miles than mine did lol. The last couple weeks the tranny started acting weird like in reverse clunking and it slipped for the first time last week. I drove it last night and after driving for a while it ended up getting so bad i couldnt even move it wouldnt click into gear. I shut it off turned it back on and it would drive all thru first then slip i kept doing that then eventually it went into 2nd or 3rd and I got home. It seems that it gets alot worse after the car warms up and your driving for a while. The flashing arrow is on and has been for a while but never gave me problems like this. I was wondering if there are any things I can do without replacing the tranny that might work like changing tranny filter or adding lucas something. I had a 98 gtp that gave me the same problem I changed the tranny filter and put in new tranny fluid and it never slipped again or gave me problems Im hopeing I can do something to help this tranny. thanks in advance, Nick

How does the fluid look? Both level and color. Does it smell burnt? You might start by just changing the fluid. Use the drain and fill method, not a flush. Drain and fill about three times until the stuff coming out looks almost like what you are putting in. If the fluid looks good and the level is correct, you probably need to take it someplace and have it looked into.

Agree, drain and fill, not a flush. If the fluid level is low to begin with, check for a leak after you drain and fill. Make sure you use the right fluid too!!
