Default 1998 v70 awd

Hello all. Me again...
Anyhow, the above with 76k miles, seems to leave a couple of drips of oil from the back of the engine. The mechanic said that it's from the turbocharger, internal to it. (Meaning not from an oil hose or anything, if there is such a thing). Is that the beginning of a bigger leak or the turbo going bad? He said it's hard to replace and expensive and to just watch the oil level every so often and maybe add as needed.
What are your thoughts? The car is usually driven by my wife and definitely not abused...
Thank you, Anthony V.

All turbo's will have a slight leak of oil off the turbo.
I would clean the area and recheck in a week to make sure it is not something else.

Hello again.
it seems to be in the same spot on the floor. Meaning if the car is parked in the exact same spot in the garage as it usually is, the card board that gets put and replaced under it, is stained in the same spot towards the middle back of the engine (towards the fire wall). They seem to be two drips side by side of a few drops each. Not sure if i'm answering your question correctly.

Has the return line ever been replaced?

Hello again. Not by us, meaning for the time that we owned it. (Bought it used...), anyhow, what did change recently is that the oil pan gasket was replaced with a VOLVO kit, (gasket, sealent etc), and according to the mechanic a couple of oil lines going to a cooler had to be removed and reinstalled for that because they were in the way.
Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Also the mechanic is putting in 5W-30 oil every time we change it. We live in NY, (Staten Island), so the weather could get quite cold some times..
Any of this helps?

It might be the return line gasket at the turbo or the o-ring at the block.

Ok thank you. I guess i'll keep an eye on it and should it graduate to a bigger issue, (before it gets really bad of course), i'll have it checked again, maybe by someone else and fix it as needed...
of course i'll keep tabs on the oil level along the way.
So 5/30 is ok for my area of the world for all year round?

I guess 5/30 is ok for now. I am more of a 10/30 guy.
Even in the cold I would rather run 10/30 myself. IMO 5/30 is a little to thin in these motors.
