Default 1998 v70 awd propeller shaft installation question

I have just gotten my new propeller shaft for my v70, but am unsure of how it should be aligned. VADIS and the forums mentions I could find just say to reinstall with marks aligned (made when prop shaft removed). I did mark the old shaft when it came out, but I no longer have it to refer to for orientation of the new shaft. Can anyone tell me how the orientation should be? e.g., 'center u-joint lines up in such-and-such way with part X' or something like that?

Thanks for any help.

You should be able to just put it in. You will have to line up the bolt holes though.

thanks for the responses - that's what I had suspected. When I installed it, I got a vibration at 45 mph or so and faster. Called the driveshaft shop I got it from, he agreed that it should be able to go in any way. Suggested trying to turn it 180 degrees, but did not think it would help. Could be a balance issue, but neither he nor any of the other d/s shops in the area can check the balance in it (don't have the proper fixtures), so he is contacting the manufacturer; supposed to hear back from him this afternoon.

could the viscous coupling be causing the vibration, but only with the driveshaft installed, and not with it removed? The driveshaft shop reports that the manufacturer says this is a very common reason they have seen for vibration with the new shafts. Mine did not vibrate with the old shaft (front CV joint on the shaft went bad), and have been driving it since November 2008 w/out the propeller shaft (FWD only).

It is possible. But I would try the 180 turn first and see if it helps first.
