1998 v70 low compression
hello, can any body tell me if i did a seafoam claning of the intake system will that help inprove this p0172 code that,s telling me it runing RICH ,, been checking 4 vacuum leak,s but have,n found any as of yet thank,s inadvance
I tend to think that a rich running condition would not be caused by a vacuum leak. If anything, a vacuum leak would allow more air in, causing a lean condition.
I would think an injector leak is more likely, or that the throttle is not responding properly to allow enough air in.
I can't see that seafoam would fix a leaky injector, but it couldn't hurt, as a seafoam clean will at least help get carbon off the valves and remove some carbon from the combustion chamber. I would also separately clean your throttle body to remove any deposits that may be causing it to stick.
Running some injector cleaner might help.
Somebody else should weigh in on this.

Another thought is I've never thought about excessive fuel pressure being a problem, but I'm guessing if your fuel pressure regulator stopped functioning, such a condition would be possible, and that could lead to rich running.
