low compression and some other minor issues
A friend of mine has a '98 V70 T5 with about 110k which has been using oil and coolant lately, his mechanic said it was probably his head gasket and so were going to take a look at it. The first thing I did was check the compression, which actually came out pretty low. The car wasn't really warm and hindsight it probably should have been, it was only driven the 1 mile to my house. How much of a difference will that make? I wasn't sure on the exact procedure, we are going to pick up the haynes manual this week. Here are the numbers we got: #1-145psi, #2-145, #3-138, #4-135, #5-145.
It is using 3-4 quarts between oil changes and some coolant but not that much. There some oil on the back of the motor. It looks like it's coming from an oil line to the turbo, and a search here supported that. that leak doesn't look that bad and he said it didn't have any sort of oil spot where he parks it so I don't think that is the main reason for the lost oil. It seems to be burning it somehow because there isn't any sign of that much oil coming out of the motor in liquid form. There is also a definite burst of oil smoke when he hits the gas, I'm not that knowledgeable about turbos but it seems to me that the turbo could be burning oil somehow. Is there any easy way to check that the valves are getting good seal, besides a compression test?
Thanks in advance.

Those numbers are ok.
They are close even if they are a little low. But they are somewhat close.
If you had like 90 on one then I would say it is bad.
Either the Vent system is clogged making the turbo suck oil in or the turbo is bad.
