1998 Volvo V70 AWD clunking noise
I just recently purchased a used 1998 Volvo V70 AWD Wagon. Car is great, but there is one issue I am trying to diagnose. When turning sharply at low speeds, such as pulling into a tight parking spot, there is a pretty loud clunking noise. Present in forward and reverse. Seems like a little resistance in steering as well. Sounds loudest in the front drivers side and rear passenger's side. I originally thought it might be CV joints or control arms, but saw another post about a propshaft bearing. No noises at higher speeds, just low speeds pulling into or out of parking spots. Hope someone might have some insight before I bring it to a mechanic.
The first thing I would try is on the front of both control arms there is a plastic pad. Take some grease and smeer it on there and see if the noise goes away.
If it doesn't then I would look at the driveshaft.
