1999 V70 - fumes through vents

1999 V70 - fumes through vents
Does anyone know why I am getting exhaust fumes through the vents if the car is idling and the fan is turned on. Do you know where the fumes are coming from and how to solve the problem. The car is a gasoline 1999 V70 with turbo.

There have been a few post about fuel fumes. If you search the S/V70 sections and 850 section you may find it. I would search the word FUMES. Mulitple words don't seem to work well.
The most likely situation is a torn vacuum line. You can also check for a fuel leak near the fuel rail or other fuel line. They are hard to find due to the fact that fuel evaporates pretty quick but you can trace them. Fuel leaks are dangerous for obivious reasons so do look good.
The air that goes into the car is pulled from the base of the windshield cowl. So, fumes are often taken from the engine compartment. That is one reason there is a good seal at the base of that cowl.
